Collector inspects railway station development works in Tirupati

Tirupati: District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta examined the possibilities of developing the south side of Tirupati railway station and interlinking Rayala Cheruvu Road with DR Mahal Road under the master plan on Friday.

Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) Commissioner PS Girisha and Urban SP KKN Anburajan and railway officials were present on the occasion. The proposed station redevelopment works have hit a roadblock as TUDA proposed to lay 80-ft road on the south side of the station which goes through the railway land where redevelopment works have to be taken up.

Recently, South Central Railway (SCR) GM Gajanan Mallya has taken up the issue with Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam which was followed by a meeting by Town Planning Director with railway and TUDA officials recently.

Earlier, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also visited the station and stressed the importance of taking up of redevelopment plan forward. In this backdrop, the Collector examined the maps and master plan to take stock of situation. The TUDA secretary Ramasundara Reddy, corporation engineer Chandrasekhar and railway engineer Siva Prasad were present.
