Collector told to ensure supply of drinking water

Eluru: Chief Secretary LB Subrahmanyam has directed the Collectors to take appropriate steps to avoid water shortage and ensure proper drinking water supply even though Election Code of Conduct is in force. Accompanied by Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, the CS convened a video conference with Collectors from Secretariat on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he instructed the Collectors to monitor water supply to urban and rural areas. He asked them to ensure that adequate supply of water to these areas. They should also concentrate on fodder and other problems arise during summer. He told them to use their experience to tackle water problem.

At the same time quality of water should be maintained. The Collectors concerned should take steps for proper coordination among ZP CEO, district panchayat officer and Rural Water Supply officials for better results. The horticulture crops should be protected, he advised.
