Collector Veera Pandiyan kick starts awareness drive to make Kurnool clean

Kurnool: District collector G Veera Pandiyan ordered the officials concerned to create awareness among people on keeping the surroundings neat and clean besides taking preventive measures on coronavirus. To educate people in rural areas on the subject, the collector flagged off a campaigning vehicle (Prachara Ratham) from the collectorate here on Thursday. The vehicle was launched by the departments of Rural Water Scheme (RWS).

Speaking on the occasion, the collector said if people were educated about cleanliness then Swachh Bharat goals would automatically reached. First of all, the resident of rural areas need to infuse awareness on Swachh Bharat, Swachh Andhra, sanitation, preventive measure on Covid and reaping benefits out of the wastage. The collector ordered the officials of RWS to utilise the services of village secretaries, engineering assistant of village and ward secretariat to educate people on sanitation and others.

Veera Pandian said the Asha workers, village revenue assistant (VRAs) and anganwadi workers should tell the people about the aim of the campaigning vehicle. People's contribution is most important to attain a Swachh Kurnool.

He said the vehicle would start campaigning from Orvakal and tour 54 mandals for a period of two months. The campaigning will conclude on February 16, 2021. During the two months period the villagers would be educated on Open Defecation Free (ODF) sustainability, separation of dry and wet waste, plastic waste management and preventive measures to be taken with regard to coronavirus.

RWS superintending engineer, Ch Vidyasagar and other department officials were present.
