Compendium on Telugu dialects released in SPMVV

The book on Telugu Dialects being released in Tirupati on Saturday

Tirupati: A compendium of Telugu dialects written by Prof M Vijayalakshmi of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) was released by former Professor of Telugu in SV University Prof P Narasimha Reddy on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion In-charge Vice Chancellor Prof V Uma said that several new words in Telugu which were not known by most of the people have found place in the compendium and there is a need to bring out such books on dialects in every district.

Prof P Narasimha Reddy said that the words in the compendium were used by ancient poets. Several words which are new to most of the people were there in the book. Another former Professor K Sarvothama Rao felt that whoever contribute to the language will get huge applause and Vijayalaksmi got that great opportunity.

Author Prof Vijayalakshmi remembered the contributions of Prof GN Reddy in shaping the students. As a tribute to him, the book release function was planned on his death anniversary.

Former Vice Chancellor of SK University Prof P Kusuma Kumari, former Director of Telugu Academy Prof J Prathap Reddy, former Lecturer Dr DM Premavathi and others also spoke on the occasion, which was attended by different sections of people, faculty of the University, research scholars and students.
