Congress activists led by former Union Minister MM Pallam Raju staging dharna in Kakinada on Thursday

Kakinada: Former Union Minister MM Pallam Raju condemned the removal of the statues of great leaders like Nehru from the central place located at Balajicheruvu and described such moves as heinous acts.

The Congress leaders staged a protest at Balajicheruvu centre here on Thursday and demanded that the authorities restore the statue of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in its original place. They also found fault with the action of YSRCP government in removing statues of the national leaders.

Pallam Raju lambasted the YSRCP leaders and officials for taking a hasty action of removing the statue of Nehru. He also alleged that YSRCP leaders are disturbing the peace of Kakinada and creating panic among the people by their atrocious acts. He demanded stringent action against those who indulged in vandalising the Hindu idols across the State.

Pallam Raju pleaded for safety and protection to idols in the temples and wanted the government to enforce security measures in and around the Hindu places of worship.
