Construction of 15 rural stadiaon fast track in Anantapur dist
Anantapur: The AP Sports Authority (APSA) has been developing rural sports infrastructure to groom rural children into excellent sports persons. As part of its objective, it is building Rural Sports Stadiums in 15 mandals. APSA has already built 4 rural stadiums and are in the process of building another 11 rural stadiums.
These stadiums will be useful to the rural children to become cricket stars. The rural youth and high school children play cricket with make-shift bats and wickets made of tree branches in the open fields or available grounds. The APSA planned to construct 15 rural stadiums. Of them, 4 stadiums had been completed while 11 are under construction which will be completed by the end of 2019.
In the first phase The Sports Authority of AP had sanctioned four green field stadium at a cost of Rs.2.10 crores each. The 4 stadiums are located in Kalyandurg, Singanamala, Raptadu and Penukonda. It also sanctioned Rs.8.40 crores for the construction of four more stadiums, one each at Narpala in Singanamala constituency, Kalyandurg town in Kalyandurg constituency, Ramagiri in Raptadu constituency and Penukonda town in Penukonda constituency.
The sports facilities in the stadiums include indoor stadium, pavilion building, shopping complex, play fields for basketball, volley ball, lawn tennis, kabaddi, kho-kho, cricket and 200 metre athletic track.
District Sports Development Officer Jaganadham told 'The Hans India' that 15 stadiums will be completed by the end of 2019.
Youngsters in rural areas are highly talented and energetic. One can see young boys and girls playing cricket without sports kits. The youth would excel in sports after the completion of stadiums, he opined.
