Construction of bio-gas generation plant completed in Tirupati

Tirupati: Construction of the plant which generates bio-gas from waste was completed and is ready for inauguration in Tirupati. The civic body officials have designed the plant for recycling the bio waste with tie up of Mahendra Company.

According to officials, every day more than 110 tonnes of bio waste like vegetables, food waste from restaurants are being generated in the city. Presently, municipal sanitary staff are sending bio waste to Ramapuram dump yard in RC Puram mandal. Now on wards, all the bio waste from city markets , restaurants and fast food centres will be transported to Tukivakam for bio gas generation.

As part of effective implementation of solid waste management practices, MCT has come forward to implement advanced methods in waste recycling and entered into a memorandum of understanding with Mahindra Company which constructed the plant at Rs 18 crore in corporation site at Tukivakam. Per day 50 tonnes of bio-waste can be converted into bio gas through this plant.

Shortly this plant will be inaugurated by the people's representatives. on Tuesday MCT Commissioner PS Girisha inspected the plant site and interacted with the company officials. Girisha said to The Hans India that as part of eco-friendly methods MCT is going to start waste to bio gas generation plant. In the first phase, we will supply cocking gas to star hotels in the city, the Commissioner said.
