Construction of Haj House in Vijayawada sought
Vijayawada: Muslim Joint Action Committee (JAC) convener Muneer Ahmed requested Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to take measures for construction of Haj House in Vijayawada.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Muneer Ahmed said that the Central government had given permission for starting the Haj tour from Vijayawada airport and so Haj pilgrims would arrive in Vijayawada for their stay from next year onwards.
He said plenty of Wakf lands were available in Vijayawada and Guntur and the State government should take up measures for construction of Haj House in 10 acres land.
He alleged that the previous TDP government had assured the Muslims of Andhra Pradesh that Haj House would be constructed and later ignored it. He requested the Chief Minister to take measures for construction of Haj House in the State.
He thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the financial assistance from Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 to the Haj pilgrims whose annual income is below Rs three lakh.
He said about 2,600 Haj pilgrims will be benefitted with the allocation in the State Budget.
