Containment zones increase to 11 in Srikakulam city

Srikakulam: With a large number of migrated workers returning to their hometowns, the corona positive cases are increasing in district headquarters for the last several days.

In the wake of increase in corona cases, district collector J Nivas directed the municipal officials to impose strict restrictions in those areas where positive cases are surfaced. In the city, Golkondarevu area was declared as containment zone on Friday as a woman's samples tested positive for corona.

Existing containment zone s are Hudco Colony, Pondara Veedhi, Adivarampeta, Kattera Veedhi, Maha Laxmi Nagar Colony, Gujarathipeta, Harijana Veedhi, Bahadurlapeta, Old Housing Board Colony and Kameswari Kalyanamantapam area. Total containment zones in the city till Friday are 11. About quarter part of the Srikakulam city has been declared as containment zone.

The corporation staff have intensified sanitation works with directions of collector to prevent further spread of Covid. Medical and health department staff launched door-to-door survey in the city to trace the recent returnees, home quarantine details and visitors. Police also intensified checking in all areas across the city in the wake of increase in positive cases.

The collector also directed the officials to collect details of persons regarding carriers of Covid cases and send them either to Covid hospital or to quarantine centres based on the symptoms. Surveillance teams have also been appointed to prevent entry of new persons into the city and also for identification returned migrated workers.
