Tirupati:The second COVID death reported in Chittoor district on Sunday with a 48 year old vegetables and fruits vendor has died while undergoing treatment at Sri Padmavati state Covid hospital attached to SVIMS. The patient was running an eatery in the city which has to be closed due to lockdown. So, he shifted to selling vegetables and fruits near Raitu Bazar area. He used to get the vegetables from Renigunta through those bringing them from Koyambedu.

When positive cases linked to Koyambedu contacts have started surging largely, officials have appealed everyone having links with that market to come forward for testing. This patient has ignored these appeals and showed negligence, it is learnt. It was only when he started suffering from severe breathlessness he approached doctors and tested positive for Covid-19 on May 24 evening.

According to DM&HO Dr M Penchalaiah, his condition was critical by then and was on ventilator for the last 3-4 days. The situation has worsened and he could not survive.
