Coronavirus update: 48 new cases reported in Andhra Pradesh taking the tally to 2137

Coronavirus In AP: Andhra Pradesh reported two more COVID-19 death and 48 new cases in the past 24 hours out of 9,284 tests conducted. With this, the total number of cases mounted to 2,137. As many as 86 people got discharged on Tuesday taking the cumulative recovered cases to 1142 while the active cases stand at 948. Out of 48 cases in the state, eight cases belong to the migrants.

As per the media, health bulletin released a while ago, here is the district-wise cases with Chittoor (11), East Godavari (4) and Guntur (12) Kurnool (7) Krishna (3) and Anantapur (3). Most of the cases are linked to the COVID hotspot Koyembedu market in Chennai. Meanwhile, the state moves forward in conducting the COVID-19 tests with 2.1 lakh till May 13, which is the first state in the country to do such a massive number of tests.

Earlier on Tuesday, the chief secretary to health Dr Jawahar Reddy reportedly said that testing would be continued till the vaccine is found and pointed out about the setting up of two more testing laboratories in private colleges in Vizianagaram and West Godavari soon.

Meanwhile, the plasma collection began from the recovered patients in the state. For the first time in the state, doctors in the state-level COVID hospitals collected plasma from three people in Kurnool and Tirupati on Tuesday who were subsequently screened for 28 days after corona diagnosis.
