Cotton farmers told to register under e-Panta scheme: Joint Collector
Vijayawada: Joint Collector Dr K Madhavilatha instructed the officials concerned to educate the cotton farmers to register their names under the e-Panta scheme to get Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The Joint Collector who held a meeting with the marketing, agricultural, CCI, the Fire, the police department officials at her office on Thursday, instructed the department officials concerned to educate the farmers to enroll them under e-Panta scheme to get MSP and to establish crop purchase centers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector instructed them to establish cotton purchase centers at Jaggaiahpeta, Nandigama, Kanchikacherla, Mylavaram, A Konduru, Tiruvuru and Gampalagudem and to take all precautionary measures like security and fire safety.
She said that cotton farming was done in about 48,480 hectares of land and expecting about 12 lakh quintals of cotton yield from across the district. She said that the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) would give Rs 5,550 MSP per quintal.
Stating that eight percent moisture will be accepted, she instructed all the officials to take all measures for the purchase of cotton without causing any inconvenience. The second Joint Collector K Mohan Kumar, Marketing DDM Divakar and others were present.
