Covid-19 cases remain unabated in Chittoor district
Tirupati: Much to the concern of the district administration, reporting of the Covid-19 cases remaining unabated in Chittoor district.
On Thursday nine more cases were reported officially taking the total to 151 in the district, male 107 and female 44.
However, the active cases are only 75 with the discharge of 75 cases after treatment including two discharges on Thursday from Covid-19 hospital in Chittoor.
The cases reported today relate to one each from Tavanampalli, Pichatur, Satyavedu, V Kota and Srikalahasti and four from Nagalapuram. All the nine cases were linked to Koimbedu Market (Chennai). The virus spread due to primary and secondary contacts, official sources said.
District Collector Dr Narayan Bharath Gupta along with Puthalapattu MLA MS Babu visited Yeguvamatyam habitation in Mathyam Gram Panchayat in Tavanampalli mandal where one positive case due to Koimbedu Market contact reported. Collector directed the mandal official for early completion of house to house survey to identify any suspect cases.
Later, the Collector along with MLA held a meeting with mandal officials. He said that the person who was tested positive has been admitted in Chittoor Covid-19 hospital while 52 persons who are identified as primary and secondary contacts of the Corona patient are being sent to quarantine centres.
In this connection, Gupta asked the mango farmers to take precautionary measures to avoid crop loss.
He wanted them engage labourers from local areas for harvesting mangoes and transport them only after sanitisation of the vehicle. The drivers, coolies and others should take all precautions like wearing mask, maintaining physical distance etc, he said.
