COVID-19 lockdown: Vijayawada police gears up, closes all national highways

As the lockdown of the Andhra Pradesh over coronavirus outbreak is continuing throughout the state, the police have geared up with all equipment to avoid the public from mass gatherings. In this backdrop, Vijayawada police have raised to the occasion and halted the huge traffic throughout the city. They have set up huge barricades at all national highways and major roads were remained shut. Except for the essential vehicles, autos, private vehicles, Motorists on the road have been blocked and sent home.

The Transport Minister Nani, on the other hand, announced that all RTC bus services will be stopped till the end of the month, by which the RTC buses across the state limited to the depots. The Pandit Nehru bus station, which is the most crowded one in Vijayawada is seen empty.

Officials have taken special measures on cleanliness in the bus stand in wake of the coronavirus case registered in Vijayawada. The surroundings are constantly being cleaned with chemicals and medical camps were set up in the premises of bus depots. The doctors were also appointed to advise the public on COVID-19.

While with the coronavirus case registered in the city, the commissioner of police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has issued orders to impose section 144 till April 14.
