Covid vaccination at 145 centres in Krishna district

Vijayawada: Krishna district administration is gearing up for the Covid vaccination at 145 selected centres across the district.

So far, arrangements have been made in Machilipatnam for storage of 3.50 lakh vaccine doses that will be dispatched to all centres in the district. The vaccine will be administered in the district hospital, area hospitals, government general hospital and PHCs. In the first phase, health workers will be given vaccine and later the frontline workers. Police, revenue staff and sanitary workers are among the frontline workers.

Krishna district Collector Md Imtiaz on Sunday inspected the arrangements being made for the storage and supply of vaccine from centre in Gannavaram. Vaccine will be arrived from Hyderabad and Chennai airports by flight and will be dispatched from Gannavaram to other districts by road through 19 vehicles. Coolers and freezers have been arranged at the vaccination centres in Gannavaram and Machilipatnam. One litre of vaccine is equal to 200 doses.

Interacting with the media at the Covid vaccination storage centre in Gannavaram, the Collector said CC cameras are installed at the Gannavaram storage centre and special vehicles are arranged for transportation of doses to other districts. He said cold chain stock points already arranged in all districts. The Regional Covid vaccine centres are set up in Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Kurnool for the storage of vaccine, he added.

The Krishna district administration has already conducted dry run inVijayawada and Machilipatnam. Five officers from Medical and Health department were appointed at each vaccination centre for effective implementation of Statewide drive.
