Covid vaccination dry run begins in Krishna district
Vijayawada: Covid vaccination dry run inaugurated in Krishna district will be very useful for the vaccination drive in the district, said Krishna district Collector Md Imtiaz on Monday.
He inaugurated the two-day Covid vaccination dry run at the Primary Health Centre located in Prakash Nagar here.
Addressing the media, he said all Covid protocols would be followed for the dry run in five centres. He said the dry run is similar to the mock drill and will be extremely useful for the vaccination drive to be taken up by the district administration as per the orders of the State and Central governments.
The dummy vaccination has been dispatched from the cold storage rooms to the five dry run centres by 8:30 am on Monday morning and later the vaccination started. He said training has been given to the medical officers and other staff for the dry run. Krishna district has been selected in Andhra Pradesh for the dry run.
Under the supervision of Collector Md Imtiaz, joint Collector L Sivasankar, and district Medical Health Officer Dr M Suhasini, the medical staff conducted dry run on the 25 staff from the Medical and Health department. Three rooms were arranged for the registration of names, vaccination and the observation of the persons.
Earlier, elaborate arrangements were made for the vaccination dry run at the PHC Prakash Nagar and four other locations. The dry run was also conducted at the Old Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, Purna Heart centre, Suryaraopet, Vijayawada, Primary Health Centre, Uppuluru and Krishnaveni Degree College, Tadigadapa.
In all 125 Medical and Health department staff were given dummy vaccination as per the guidelines of the Medical and Health department, Union government. As many as 25 persons were given vaccination at each centre. After the vaccination, the persons who underwent vaccination were put under the observation for nearly 30 minutes.
Specialist doctors in heart, neurology and general physician were put on standby at these PHCs to attend the emergency cases. Initially, the names of the Medical and Health department staff were registered on the computers and later vaccination was given in the rooms.
The entire process of the dry run was shot and the videos will be sent to the Medical and Health department. The Collector also visited other centres and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made for the dry run, which will continue on Tuesday as well.
