CPI State chief consoles kin of deceased farmer in Kadapa
Kadapa: While appreciating the State government's initiative in extending financial support to the kin of farmers, who committed suicides, CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna has appealed to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to repay the loans borrowed by the farmers for agriculture operations.
Ramakrishna visited the family of Mekala Venkata Subbaiah, who committed suicide in Nanganurupalle village in Proddatur mandal and condoled them on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Rs 7 lakh financial support being extended by the YSRCP government will help the deceased families. But they are not in a position to repay the outstanding borrowed money at abnormal rate of interest with the private money lenders.
The CPI leader recalled that M Venkata Subbaiah, who also irrigating groundnut crop as tenant farmer in 12 acres of land along with 4 acres owned by him borrowed huge amount from the banks for growing crops. He said that this kind of situation has been witnessing in all 50 mandals of Kadapa district as number of farmers committed suicides in the same manner.
CPI district president G Eswaraiah, Rythu Sangam secretary K Venkata Siva, CPI town president K Subbarayudu and others were present.
