CPM demands compensation to flood victims in Rajamahendravaram

Rajamahendravaram: CPM district secretary T Arun demanded that the State government to pay compensation to the flood victims of Devipatnam mandal immediately. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy had assured to pay an amount of Rs 5,000 to each family but it was not implemented so far, he lamented.

Addressing the party members at the party office here on Tuesday, he said the floods occurred thrice in the months of August, September and October and as many as 34 tribal villages are still in flood water. The CPM leader said that paddy crop was damaged in 100 acres, banana crop in 85 acres and other crops in 20 acres, he informed.

He also demanded that the State government to extend financial assistance under the YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme to the flood victims in Devipatnam mandal. SSN Murthi presided over the meeting.

He said that the flood victims were undergoing immense hardships and needed help urgently on a war footing. CPM leaders P Venakateswara Rao, Ramachandra Rao, I Subramanyam, Raju Lova, Tulasi, Savitri and others were present.
