CPM demands government to help flood victims

Eluru: The CPM has demanded that the state government help the people affected by heavy rains and floods in the district. Addressing the media here on Saturday, CPM district secretary Ch Baburao said that farmers and agricultural workers were facing difficulties as the crops weer inundated in Polavaram, Kukunuru, Velerupadu, Tallapudi, Kovvuru, Tadepalligudem, Unguturu and Denduluru mandals. The farm labour have been facing unemployment because of inundation.

Stating that the flood-hit mandals of Polavaram, Kukunuru and Velerupadu mandals lost contact with rest of the world, the CPM leader said that the government was not in a position to disclose their plight leave alone the help from government.

There was no alternative for the farming community but to sow the seeds again, he explained. Under these conditions, the state government should provide essential commodities to the flood-affected families.

The government should record the details of crop loss and extend capital for the farmers to start the agricultural activity afresh. CPM district leaders A Ravi and K Srinivas were also present.
