Create awareness on negative impact of tobacco: Joint Collector
Kakinada: Joint Collector Ch Sattibabu has appealed to the person not to use Tobacco and its produces which poses threat to the health. Flagging of a rally in connection with World No Tobacco Day here on Friday, he said the Government of India brought Tobacco Control Act in the year 2003. In many countries, tobacco was banned and India also initiated steps in this regard.
He underlined the need to create awareness among the people about the negative impacts of tobacco and advised medical and health department and non-governmental organisations to take up this issue seriously.District Medical and Health Officer Dr T Ramesh Kishore said tobacco consists of 4,000 chemical mixtures, 200 poisonous material and 60 varieties of things which promotes cancer.
As many as 10 lakh people are dying in the country every year due to tobacco consumption as against 60 lakh people dying due to the same reason in the world. Tobacco consumption leads to lung, liver, mouth cancer, heart related diseases etc. He appealed to the people not to consume tobacco which damages the health. Dr Kesava Prasad and many others participated in the programme.
