Cremation of 10 electrocuted in machavaram performed
Santhanuthalapadu: The Machavaram village in Naguluppalapadu was in a deep state of mourning as the family members and relatives of the 10 victims of electrocution, performed cremation of their loved ones on Friday.
The government announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each deceased farm worker, informed Social Welfare and in-charge minister for Prakasam district Pinipe Viswaroop here on Friday.
Ministers Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Audimulapu Suresh, Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh, Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara, SP Siddharth Kaushal, local MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu, APCPDCL Ongole SE NVS Subbaraju and others paid tributes to the deceased at the GGH Ongole before shifting them to the village and offered moral support to the bereaved family members. They interacted with the injured people and learned about the accident from them.
Balineni Srinivasa Reddy announced that the government would provide ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and promised to look into the demands of family members like employment to the kin of deceased and land for agriculture purpose.
He announced that they would also change the electricity poles wherever required and conduct an inquiry on how 22 people are allowed to travel on the tractor truck.
Later, the minister Viswaroop announced that the government would provide ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family members of each deceased person, at the Rythu Bharosa meeting held at the Collectorate.
The bodies of Pika Koteswaramma, 50, Nukathoti Lakshamma, 65, Kakumanu Ramadhevi, 55, Kakumanu Kumari,45, Kakumanu Ramasri, 40, Golla Ravi Sankar, 20, Kakumanu Siva,17, Kakumanu Mounika, 18, Kakumanu Amulya, 18, and the farmer and tractor driver Nalluri Chenchaiah,38, reached the village after post-mortem at Government General Hospital in Ongole in the noon.
Santhanuthalapadu MLA Sudhakar Babu followed them to Machavaram and stayed till the cremation was complete and promised to extend all possible support from the government.
