Crop loss enumeration begins in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: The officials of various departments, agriculture, revenue and electricity, have initiated measures to enumerate damage caused by recent rains in the district.

District Collector J Nivas appointed special teams for enumeration of crop loss, roads, irrigation tanks, canals, projects and electricity department. Due to floods, crops inundated in 21 mandals across the district. In Palakonda, Gara, Santhabommali and Sompeta mandals, the crop damage was more due to rains.

After receding of water from the fields, we are going to estimate crop damage for paddy and other kharif season crops, said joint director for agriculture P Ganga Veera Prasad.

A youth body was recovered by the national disaster response force (NDRF) teams at Kontikota on Saturday. The body was identified as G Vasu of Sariyapalli village in Mandasa mandal, who washed away in a local rivulet at Kontikota in Mandasa mandal due to flood waters.
