Curb graft in purchases with GMP rules: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the labour department officials to curb irregularities in purchases of medicine and other products for ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation) hospitals by putting in place Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) rules for ensuing the quality standards. The Chief Minister reviewed the labour welfare and health care being provided to them with labour department officials at his camp office on Tuesday.
When the officials brought to his notice that some malpractices were taking place in procurement, he said, "All standards for the implementation of health services should be strictly followed. ESI should release bills on the spot. Send proposals for improvement of services in ESI hospitals and strictly ensure smooth functioning of hospitals."
As it was already decided to increase the number of teaching hospitals to 27 from the existing 11 and thereby have a teaching hospital and a nursing college in each parliamentary constituency, the services of the new doctors from these colleges should be utilised in the ESI hospitals, he added.
The Chief Minister said that concerted efforts should be made to curb pollution in the state. He said pollution at sea was leading to severe environmental degradation. As such, he said pollution control measures should be displayed at all places to ensure proper healthcare for workers.
Efforts should be made to fill all the vacancies in the labour department, the Chief Minister said and added that he would write a letter to the Prime Minister about the pending LIC claims of the workers.
