Dalit meet in city on Aug 18: MP GV Harsha Kumar

Rajamahendravaram: Former MP GV Harsha Kumar has said that a workshop will be conducted on August 18 in the city to discuss about the problems of dalits and problems faced by them during TDP government.

Speaking to The Hans India, he said TDP government miserably failed to do justice to them including paying compensation and not registering cases against the responsible persons. Leaders of dalit associations from 13 districts participate in the meeting, he added.

He said YSRCP government responded immediately and registered SC/ST Atrocities case against the persons who killed Bikki Srinu in Rangampeta village panchayat office and also extended a financial assistance of Rs 4.1 lakh to the family members of the deceased and also sanctioned house site patta, free education to the children and government job to wife of deceased. Moreover, the government also assured to sanction farm land and pay Rs 4.15 lakh to the family.

He alleged that the TDP government did not take any action relating to the issues taken place at Kakinada, Garagaparru, Kolimeru, Pathatungapadu, Katravulapalli, Dommeru, Anaparthi, Gummileru, Amalapuram, Sudhapalem, Kesanakurru and other places.
