Decision on setting of medical college to be taken soon: Botcha Satyanarayana

Vizianagaram: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana on Tuesday said the State government would take a decision within a few days on setting up a medical college in Vizianagaram.

The Minister was holding a review meeting on establishing medical college with District Collector M Hari Jawaharlal and Joint Collector M Venkata Ramana Reddy.

The officials felt that the medical college can be attached to Maharaja General Hospital. It is felt that minimum of 40 acres of land is to be acquired for establishment of the college. The Minister said the proposals were made to acquire land in the town.

At present five acres of land was available at MR Hospital and five more acres at police guest house area. As much as 25 acres of land can be acquired at Vuda colony, he said. MLAs B Appalanarasaiah, KVeerabhadra Swamy and officials participated in the review meeting.
