Deities decked up with 9 varieties of seeds, flower garlands in Tirumala
Tirumala: The garlands artistically knitted out by using the seeds of broad beans and peanuts attracted the pilgrims on the first day of Snapana Tirumanjanam, part of ongoing annual Brahmotsavams on Tuesday afternoon.
The special Abhishekam was performed to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy, Sridevi and Bhudevi seated on a special platform at Ranganayakula Mandapam amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by pundits. Kankanabhattar Sri Sitaramacharyulu carried out the entire event.
Deities were decked with nine varieties of garlands which lasted for nearly two hours. According to Garden wing Deputy Director Srinivasulu, for the first time garlands, were made of peanuts, bean seeds, Pagadapu flowers, dry cherries. The others include cardamom, dry grapes, rose petals and Tulasi. The entire mandapam is decked with fruits and flowers brought from Indonesia and Thailand.
