Deposit money in PSU banks, insurance firms: Speaker

Srikakulam: The State government is committed to do justice to AgriGold victims, said Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram. Disbursing cheques to AgriGold victims here on Thursday, the Speaker said that the government move would benefit 3,69, 655 deposit holders who deposited Rs 10,000 from across the state in the company.

Stating that the victims were residing in other states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Chattisgarh and West Bengal, he said the government had released Rs 265 crore only to pay amount to deposit holders whose amount is up to Rs 10,000.

In Srikakulam district alone, he said 45,834 depositors amount worth Rs 31.41 crore would be credited into their bank accounts. The Speaker suggested public to deposit their money in public banks and insurance companies and not to believe this kind of bogus institutions.

Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Krishna Das said that during his padayatra as Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, witnessed the problems of AgriGold victims and assured them that he would resolve the issue after coming to power. As part of fulfillment of his assurance, the Chief Minister initiated steps to clear amounts in a phased manner, the minister stated.
