Deputy CM Dharmana Krishna Das assures safe drinking water to 807 villages

Srikakulam: All houses will get safe drinking water soon in Ichchapuram and Palasa Assembly constituencies in the district, said Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das.  

He laid the foundation stone for an integrated water scheme at Bendi village in Vajrapukotturu mandal along with Minister for Animal Husbandry S Appala Raju on Wednesday. The estimated cost of the scheme is Rs 700 crore and is intended to supply safe drinking water to all households in 807 villages in the two Assembly constituencies of Ichchapuram and Palasa.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister explained that YSR Sujaladhara integrated water supply scheme was launched to ensure protected drinking water supply and prevent the spread of kidney ailments in the two constituencies. Surplus water in the Vamsadhara reservoir at Hiramandal will be used for this water scheme, he added.

Minister for Animal Husbandry S Appala Raju said pipelines will be laid in all villages soon to supply water to all houses in all the 807 villages in the two constituencies. District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS) chairman Piriya Sai Raj, YSRCP leaders Duvvada Madhukeswara Rao, P V Satish, A Sesagiri, H Venkata Rao and others were present.
