Deputy CM Pamula Pushpasreevani: Girijan interests will be protected in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Allaying the fears of Girijans in the Agency areas, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tribal Welfare Pamula Pushpasreevani said here on Saturday that the interests of Girijans would be protected at any cost.
In a statement, she said the State government would prefer to file a review petition in the Supreme Court on the GO MS No 3 which was struck down by the apex court recently.
The GO envisages that the hundred per cent of the teacher posts in the Agency areas should be given to the Girijans only.
"The Tribal Advisory Council would meet on June 18 to discuss the issue thoroughly and take a decision," she said.
Following the instructions of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, three meetings were held with the legal department, principal secretary of Tribal Welfare, director of Tribal Welfare and the Advocate General to prepare an action-plan how to move ahead in this issue.
