DGP assures restoration of normalcy in Atmakur
Vijayawada: State DGP D Gautam Sawang said on Thursday that normalcy will be restored in Atmakur village of Guntur district as the displaced families are returning to their homes with the help of police and officials of Revenue department.
He said there was clash between two groups of people in Atmakuru and it was not related to the politics.
Sawang participated in a programme organised by the Police Housing Corporation at a hotel here on Thursday. He distributed insurance bond papers to 150 outsourcing staff on the occasion.
Later, addressing the media, Sawang said section 144 would be continued in Palnadu region till the Vinayaka Chaviti celebrations and processions are completed.
He said groups clashed in Atmakur and added that disputes and clashes are very common in the area. He said there was a group clash in Atmakur and it was connected to politics.
He said affected families are returning and normalcy will be restored soon in the village. He said people can lodge grievances during the Spandana programme being conducted by both police and revenue officials in the district.
With regard to harsh comments made by some political leaders against the police on Wednesday when TDP had given a call for Chalo Atmakur, the DGP replied that the police maintained calm keeping in view of the sensitivity of the situation.
He lauded the police officials for maintaining law and order under control when Opposition party TDP has given a call for Chalo Atmakur. AP Police Housing Corporation vice-chairman P V Sunil Kumar explained the activities of the corporation.
