DGP Gautam Sawang clears air on interstate arrivals, says restrictions will be continued

DGP Gautam Sawang said that the restrictions would continue over the permission of people from neighbouring states entering into Andhra Pradesh. The DGP told on Tuesday that the checkpoints will continue at the state borders in the wake of coronavirus cases. "Those who come to our state from other states should definitely get permission. It is suggested to apply for a pass and get a pass, " DGP said.

He also said that those with passes are allowed only from 7 am to 7 pm and thermal screening is permitted only after scrutiny at the state borders. Passes are not allowed in the night from 7 pm to 7 am respectively. However, emergency services are permitted at night. DGP urged people to understand the situation and cooperate. Meanwhile, the in the wake of reports over the imposing lockdown in Hyderabad amid increasing cases, the public are moving to Andhra Pradesh.

On the other hand, coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh have been mounting as the days progress. On Tuesday, the state has registered 704 new Covid-19 cases including 51 migrants and 5 foreign returnees taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 14,595. With the addition of seven fatalities in the past 24 hours, with three in Krishna, two in Kurnool and one each in Guntur and Anantapur, the death toll in Andhra Pradesh amassed to 187.
