DGP launches Police SWAT Team in Ongole

Ongole: Director-General of Police Gautam Sawang officially launched the Prakasham police trained Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team in Ongole on Thursday.

As part of the launch program, the DGP, Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal and District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara witnessed a stunning and magnificent demonstration by the trained commandoes at the Police Parade Grounds in Ongole.

The commandoes demonstrated their trained skills in events like room intervention, bus assault, vehicle assault, bomb disposal, blindfold stripping and assembling of weapons, police dog show etc.

Speaking to the media after the demonstration, the DGP praised SP Siddharth Kaushal for his initiative and capabilities in training the commandoes, introducing the 'Spandana' programme through videoconference and others and said that the SP is an inspiration for the department.

He said that the chief minister has sent appreciation to the SP for his initiative and successful training of the commandoes and requested cooperation and support from the public to the police department.

The DGP said that the commandoes were imparted world-class training with high level of competency along with professional skills, fitness, and capabilities in just three months.

He termed the launch of the SWAT team as part of the Prakasam district police force is a moment of pride for Andhra Pradesh and announced that they will train a team like this in all police districts and commissionerates in the state.

The DGP announced that the department is considering to provide further domain-based training to the SWAT commandoes to refine their skills with NSG, CISF and other world-famous agencies.
