Dig more borewells to tide over water crisis: Buggana Rajendranath Reddy
Kurnool: Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has instructed the officials concerned to dig more borewells to cater the drinking water needs of the people in the district.
He mentioned that the State government would extend complete support for resolving drinking water crisis in the district. The Minister participated in review meetings on drinking water and the irrigation at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Addressing a press conference after the meetings, Buggana said that shortage of water in Rayalaseema due to the deficit rainfall.
Responding to a query about Gundrevula reservoir, the Minister said that the government is currently focussing on finishing the pending projects like Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Veligonda and Polavaram. "We are committed to the welfare of farmers in the State and have allocated more than Rs 8,000 crore for YSR Rythu Bharosa," he added.
Talking about the relations with the neighbouring States and release of water from Tungabhadra dam, Buggana stated that the YSRCP government will maintain healthy relations with neighbouring States and ensure that water sharing problems are resolved amicably. District Collector G Veera Pandian, Joint Collector P Ravi Subash and other officials were present.
