Discharge poll duties impartially: Collector Praveen Kumar

Eluru: District Collector Praveen Kumar called upon the election staff to discharge their duties with commitment and impartially.

He addressed ROs, AEROs, nodal officers, sector officers, police and other staff assigned with the election duties at a training programme organised at Ramachandra Engineering College here on Monday.

He said the election staff should have clear understanding of code of conduct and Election Commission guidelines. The staff should thoroughly read and comprehend them. If they have any doubts regarding them, they should clarify them with the officials concerned, he suggested.

He asked the officials to follow the code of conduct and submit reports to the Election Commission from time to time. He said that about 25,000 staff is engaged in election duty in the district.

A total of 30.58 lakh voters would exercise their franchise in the polling scheduled on April 11.

The Collector asked the poll staff to have patience and take measures against the persons influencing voters with money, liquor or any other sops. There should be no room for negligent attitude in discharging duties, he said.

Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy, DRO Satyanarayana, Assistant Trainee Collector Praveen Aditya, Additional SP Eswara Rao and other officials were present.
