Disha case, Zero FIR booked and arrested accused in AP within minutes
Amaravati: The A P police booked a case within minutes after the victim lodged a complaint on Tuesday's early hours.
The Disha Special Officer M Deepika Patil in a press release said that "At 4.21 am on Tuesday, a distress call was received by Disha Control Room from a lady traveling in a bus from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada. The lady was being harassed by a fellow passenger who was behaving inappropriately and physically harassing her. Then the lady used the Disha App which was launched just three days ago by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. She sent an SOS to the police through the App". Here the SOS is a Morse code being used in emergency situations.
Further, Deepika Patil informed that "As soon as receiving the SOS from the victim, the Disha Control Room staff immediately directed the local police. The local police were able to reach the bus within minutes and catch the accused. A Zero FIR has also been registered at 3 Town Police Station in Eluru in West Godavari district".
Chief Minister appreciated the efforts and efficiency of the police department in reacting against the Disha type of crimes on this occasion when the DGP Gowtham Goutam Sawang appraised the details with him.
