District athletes win overall championship in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Athletic Association (APAA) general secretary A Hymavathi has expressed her delight that Krishna district girls athletics team won overall girls championship at the Andhra Pradesh Inter District Athletic Championship held at Acharya Nagarjuna University from August 9 to 11.

She said that G Jayithri (under 14 years) and D Jyothika Sri (under 20 years) secured the best athlete awards. She said that the players had excelled in the championship though there was no proper track and field infrastructure.

She said that the girls underwent training at the district athletic team located at SAI Extension Centre at Andhra Loyola College. If the government extends helping hand to the centre, the players will win more medals in the days to come. On the occasion, the secretary congratulated SAI Coach and SAAP coach J Varalakshmi and the medal winners.
