Vijayawada: The members of Dalit Stree Sakthi (DSS) strongly condemned the incidents of Dalit women being insulted in recent times. The members took out a protest rally from Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that attacks and insults on Dalit women were on the rise and urged the State government to take stern action against the people behind such incidents.

They recalled that MLA Sridevi was insulted by TDP leaders at a Ganesh pandal in the name of caste and recently a Sub-inspector of Police Anuradha, who was on duty, was subjected to insults based on caste discrimination by former Women Commission chairperson N Raja Kumari.

They demanded that the State government take stern action against the culprits so that it would be an eye opener to every offender. Then, nobody would dare to humiliate women in this manner in future, he added. Members of DSS participated in large numbers in the protest.
