East Godavari requires 54 lakhs doses of Covid vaccine
Kakinada: East Godavari district requires 54 lakh doses of vaccine and the same quantity of syringes to administer Covid-19 vaccine to the people. The district officials have no information about the type of vaccine given to the district. There were 28 Ice Lined Refrigerators (ILR), Walkin Cooler and Walkin freezers available in the district to store the vaccine. Nearly 48 lakh doses of vaccine can be stored in each ILR.
DMHO Dr KSV Goreswar Rao told 'The Hans India' that the first phase of the vaccine will be administered to the health workers. He said that the advance arrangements were being made to distribute coronavirus vaccine to 37,000 to 47,000 frontline warriors, health care workers in the district during the first phase in accordance with the central government's standard action plan.
He said that the government has suggested that the vaccine should be distributed first to the health care workers working in government and private hospitals having government registration. He said that the vaccine distribution would be done strictly following the standard procedure. And in the second phase, the covid-19 vaccine will be distributed to the Police department, Panchayat, Municipal and Revenue departments. In the third phase, the people who crossed above 50 years. The diabetic patients, pregnant women and people suffering from chronic diseases will be given next priority to administer the vaccine.
He added that there would be 10 percent wastage in the supply of 54 lakh doses of vaccine and syringes. He informed that 0.1 ml to 0.5 ml syringes will be utilized for the purpose.
