East Godavari: Yet another temple idol demolished in Vigneswara Swamy Temple
A series of attacks on temples in Andhra Pradesh is causing concern among locals. Another incident took place this morning in Rajahmundry Sriramnagar area before the burning of the Antarvedi chariot in East Godavari district has forgotten. Unidentified persons broke both the hands of the idol of Subrahmanyeshwara Swamy in Vigneshwara temple. The priests who opened the doors of the temple this morning noticed this and informed the police.
Central Zone DSP Santosh and CI Durga Prasad, who reached the spot, inspected the situation. The close team was called in and details were gathered. He said a case would be registered on the incident and those responsible would be severely punished. The Vigneswaraswamy Temple is located near the house of TDP state leader Ganni Krishna.
On learning of the matter, TDP leader and temple trustee Ganni Krishna along with his followers reached the spot and reviewed the situation. He later said that attacks on Hindu temples and idols in the state had become routine. He lamented that the demonic rule was going on in the state and that the anti-Hindu activities had gone unchecked. No arrests have been made so far in the recent chariot burning incident at Antarvedi. Even in the incident where the idol of Lord Rama was beheaded in Ramateertham, Vizianagaram district, the authorities have not taken any action so far. He appealed police for a special focus on curbing attacks on temples.
