Education plays key role in nation building: UGC Member
Tirupati: Education is playing a key role in nation building, said University Grants Commission (UGC) member G Gopal Reddy on Saturday. He participated as chief guest in two-day programme on higher education institutions held at SV University.
Addressing the university faculty, Gopal Reddy said that University Grants Commission has been implementing many programmes to provide quality education to the students of higher education improving their learning abilities.
He added that UGC is working with an aim to develop higher learning institutions across the country and in the process, many recommendations were made by the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
"Many colleges were not reached the UGC standards for getting autonomous status. If any college wants to get autonomous status, it should improve higher learning facilities as per the UGC norms," Gopal Reddy said.
He asked the SV University affiliated colleges faculty that they have to check them-selves if they maintain better educational standards in teaching as well as research in academic activities.
Across the country UGC introduced student evolution activity in higher learning institutions, for this commission had introduced new curriculum in education learning, he added. In the meeting , SV University Engineering College Principal Prof GN Pradeep Kumar said that the two-day sensitising programme is organised to promote quality in education. Programme Coordinator Professor S Varadha Rajan and University Engineering college faculty and students were present.
