Eluru: Movie theatres along with educational institutions will be closed till March 31 to prevent spread of Coronavirus, announced West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju.

He convened a meeting with District Task Force on Coronavirus set up with 18 officials comprising of SP, Joint Collector, JC-2 and others.

The Collector who acts as chairman for the Task Force, told the officials that they should always keep in mind the fact that once lost control over the virus, it will be difficult to contain it. He informed the Task Force committee that primary survey by ward/village volunteers and Asha workers to identify foreign returnees was completed.

A total of 2,366 persons returned from foreign countries in district till March 20 were identified. Suspected 601 persons were restricted indoors. If any of these suspected persons try to come out of their homes, a case should be registered and sent to isolation ward, he instructed the officials.

The Collector also directed the officials to stamp on the hand of the suspected persons as a precautionary measure. A board should be displayed in front of their house specifying duration of restriction to their home.

The Collector made it clear that cases will be booked against cinemas and educational institutions, if they open before March 31. Seizure of such theatres and educational institutions will follow, he warned.

SP Navdeep Singh Grewal, Joint Collector Venkataramana Reddy, JC-2 N Tej Bharat and others were present.
