Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has warned the medical and health officials of stern action if they failed to extend medical services to the people.

He received a petition over lack of medical facility to people of 10 villages during Spandana programme here on Monday.

K Veeraiah of Duvva village in Tanuku mandal complained to the Collector that people of the villages have to go to Tanuku owing to lack of medical and health services in the near-by places. As the patients have to visit Tanuku area hospital for any health problems, they were unable to get treatment on time.

Responding sharply to the complaint, the District Collector told the officials that it was an unpardonable negligence that people were not getting treatment even after the government spending crores of rupees on medical and health. He would not spare the concerned officials if people from anywhere in the district complain about such instances.

He ordered DMHO Subrahmanyeshwari to pursue the matter and take appropriate steps.
