Eluru: Collector R Muthyala Raju seeks detailed reports on farmers suicides
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials concerned to prepare and submit detailed reports on centers during the past five years.
While reviewing farmers' suicides and setting up of Rythu Bharosa centres here on Tuesday, the District Collector expressed displeasure over the poor performance of the agricultural department officials. He said that the officials had failed to come out with satisfactory details on farmers' suicides and arrangements at Rythu Bharosa centres. He said that by February 7, they should set up all 240 Rythu Bharosa Centres in the district.
The centres should be equipped with all facilities such as furniture, internet, library, gas connection, electricity, toilet facility, kits to test quality of soil and seed among other things. With regard to farmers' suicides, they should specify why the farmers committed suicides, the details of crop they cultivated, the loss incurred by them, their investment. If the officials fail to provide such key details, how the deceased farmers' families get government help, the Collector wondered.
He warned the officials of stern action if false reports are filed and submitted.
