Eluru: CPM stages dharna over railway privatisation

Eluru: Protesting against the privatization of railways by the Union government, the CPM city unit staged a dharna at Powerpet railway station here on Sunday.

Addressing the protesters, the party city unit secretary P Kishore alleged that the Modi government was indulging in privatization of all sectors including telecom, coal, insurance, power and defense when the nation was focused its attention on Corona pandemic.

The BJP government had been privatizing 151 trains in 109 routes in the first phase of privatization which directly affects five lakhs out of total 14 lakh employees of the railways. There was no security to the lives of the passengers once the railways is privatized, he said adding that the fares would also be decided by the private firms taking up the job.

The party leaders Saibabu, Jagannadharao, Ramanjaneyulu, Prasad, Sattiraju, Durgarao, Adinarayana, Ramachandrarao, Satyanarayana and others were present.
