Eluru: Go for surprise visits, Minister Vanita tells officials
Eluru: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Taneti Vanita instructed the officials concerned to make surprise visits to the Anganwadi centres to improve their working for the welfare of children and women.
She was addressing the zonal level officials' meeting of East and West Godavari and Krishna districts here on Tuesday.
The minister told the officials to personally visit the offices to learn the problems and find solutions instead of speaking on phones. "Visit the 13,000 Anganwadis in the zone immediately," she said.
In spite of the shortage of funds, the Chief Minister has been taking precautions to provide all facilities to the women and children including Balamrutam, Bala Sanjivani and YSR Amruta Hastam programmes, she recalled.
She inquired about the quality of eggs, milk and other commodities supplied to the Anganwadis. If there were any discrepancies in the supply it should be found and corrected immediately, she said.
She said that the project director of West Godavari district Vijayalakshmi was providing healthy snacks to the students of Anganwadis and other project directors should also follow the same snacks.
The minister instructed the officials to take care of women and children in the rural and tribal areas where the anemia and mortality rate is high.
In case of atrocities against women or children, they should be provided with necessary help within 24 to 48 hours and they should be paid ex gratia also immediately. The officials were told to bring awareness among women regarding Disha Act and App also.
