Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials concerned to complete the targeted 25,000 hectares of micro-irrigation registrations by February 20.

Speaking at the micro-irrigation project review meeting here on Friday, the District Collector ordered the officials to evolve an action plan and make field visits to achieve the target without fail. He expressed his displeasure over failure of the officials to meet the targets every year and pulled them up for the delay. He warned them of stern action if any registration work pending after the due date.

Collector Raju said that the administrative sanctions should be completed by March 20 by finishing primary verification latest by February 29. He asked the officials to set individual targets to micro-irrigation engineers. The area should be divided mandal-wise and work should be allotted as per the job card. Meetings should be convened twice in a week to review work progress and targets should be completed. The field-level staff should not confine themselves to indoors but visit field and meet farmers to expedite the work. The Collector said that he would conduct fortnightly meetings which should be attended by all officials without fail.
