Eluru: Keep vehicles ready for the supply of sand at doorstep, Collector R Muthyala Raju tells officials

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials concernred to keep ready sufficient number of vehicles for supply of sand at the doorstep of the consumers.

Reviewing the supply of sand with officials here on Monday night, the District Collector directed them to take stern action against persons indulging in sand theft by booking cases. The guilty should be sent to jail by booking them under all available acts. He warned the officials of taking action if anybody complains about non-supply of sand in the district.

The District Collector instructed the officials to arrange for furniture, electricity, water and other facilities at 13 check-posts arranged in the district to prevent diversion of sand to other places. He also directed the officials to arrange CCTVs at the check-posts. He asked them to take all steps for transparent supply of sand.

The Collector grilled officials on why they had failed to arrange GPS to 219 vehicles in the district. He also sought information regarding number of cases registered so far against illegal sand supply, number of vehicles seized, penalty imposed and number of offenders imprisoned. The District Collector ordered the officials to keep stocks at stock points arranged in the district and warned officials and vehicle owners of stern action if they were found indulging in illegal activities at sand reaches or while in transportation of sand.
