Eluru: Joint Collector K Venkataramana Reddy has said people need not worry about shortage of essential commodities as they are in abundance in the district.

There is no need to panic and buy more commodities and store in advance, he suggested.

He organized a meeting with traders in connection with Coronavirus scare and its impact of panic buying. Shops will remain open from Monday and essential commodities will be available in sufficient quantity.

He warned the traders of stern action if they hoard essential commodities and sell provisions at higher prices on the pretext of Coronavirus scare. Black marketing of commodities and selling them at higher prices will be viewed seriously, he warned.

District Supply Officer Subbaraju, Marketing AD Srinivasarao, estate officers of Rytu Bazaars, wholesale traders were present.
