Eluru: People serving Red Cross Society lucky

Eluru: Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani has said people serving the world-famous Red Cross Society were very lucky to get the opportunity.

He participated in the swearing-in ceremony function of M Jayaprakash as the District Chairman of the Red Cross Society here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was a golden opportunity to serve the Red Cross which has 97 million volunteers world over. The responsibility of Jayaprakash increased with taking charge as chairman of the organization. With committed motive, he should march ahead with an action plan for the development of the Red Cross.

Stating that blood is crucial for saving lives, Nani advised the new chairman to organize many blood donation camps to keep ready blood needed in emergency situations. The medical sector was spoiled because of the faulty policies of the previous TDP government, he criticized and said the present government under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen to extend quality medi-care to the poor. There is a need to take the government's health initiatives to the poor and everybody should strive to make Andhra Pradesh a healthy state.

Earlier, Red Cross state president Dr Sridhar Reddy administered oath of office to Jayaprakash.

MLC Ramu Surya Rao, MLAs U Vasubabu, K Abbayya Chowdhary, Eliza and others were present on the occasion.
