Empty Sri Lanka boat creates flutters in Nellore

Nellore, May 21: An empty fishing boat that washed ashore to Vidavalur coast in the district on Tuesday created tension among local and marine police suspecting any extremist activity in the wake of launching of satellite from the SHAR on Wednesday morning. Local police offi-cials said an empty fishing boat having details of Sri Lanka registration reached the coast. Local fishermen at Ponnapudi Pathuru village who observed the boat informed to the police. Vidavalur Police immediately rushed to the spot and verified for any presence of people and they heaved a sigh of relief as there were no people in the boat.

Still, they are suspecting whether people had travelled in the boat and might have taken shel-ter somewhere. They have been taking up possible searching activity along the coast coordi-nating with the marine and other security wings. It may be recalled that PSLV C46 is being launched from the SHAR in the wee hours on Wednesday. Marine CI K Mallikarjuna Rao said there was no suspecting material in the boat and was in dilapidated condition that belongs to Sri Lanka. They were trying to get information regarding people whom it belongs and other details.
